Anti-Sune: recognition, algorithms and execution trainer

Anti-Sune is the mirrored partner of Sune. Learning the two as distinct orientations prevents one of the most common early OLL recognition errors.

Inspect and play the case from four angles

Change the viewpoint without changing the case. Then play the selected algorithm turn by turn.

Recognition

Recognize Anti-Sune from several angles

Front · 0°

Front view

Locate the single oriented corner and read the direction in which the remaining corner stickers wrap around the top layer. Anti-Sune bends opposite Sune.

Right · 90°

Right view

Check the nearest side stickers before committing. This angle makes the top fish silhouette less reliable but the corner orientation remains clear.

Back · 180°

Back view

Identify the oriented corner relative to the back center and look for the mirrored headlight relationship.

Left · -90°

Left view

Compare directly with Sune: the same number of oriented corners appears, but the direction of the corner cycle is reversed.

Algorithms

Primary and alternatives

PrimaryR U2 R' U' R U' R'

Recommended starting point for reliable recognition and execution.

Commutator alternativeR' U' L' U R U' L

A useful alternative when the standard right-hand U2 start is uncomfortable; confirm angle and AUF in the player.

Back-angle executiony2 R U2 R' U' R U' R' y2

Keeps the same algorithm structure while solving from the rear view.

Setup moves

Build the exact case

R U R' U R U2 R'

Use the inverse setup to build the Anti-Sune state from solved. Randomize the final U layer after setup so recognition is not tied to one front.

Finger tricks

Execute as one controlled phrase

  1. Begin in right-hand home grip with index and middle finger prepared for U2.
  2. Use a two-finger U2, then turn R' without releasing the front thumb.
  3. Execute U' R as a connected action, using the left index for U' when comfortable.
  4. Finish U' R' and immediately scan for the PLL bar or headlights.

Common mistakes

What usually breaks the case

  • Executing Sune because only the top fish outline was recognized.
  • Performing U2 with one finger twice and losing rhythm before R prime.
  • Allowing the right thumb to climb to the top face during the first half.
  • Adding an unnecessary U rotation before confirming the case from side stickers.

Execution-time trainer

Time repeatable executions, not one lucky run

Apply the setup, press the timer button or Space to start, then press again when the algorithm is complete. Times are stored locally; signed-in attempts also contribute privately to aggregate statistics.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Which OLL number is Anti-Sune?

Anti-Sune is commonly numbered OLL 26.

Is Anti-Sune the inverse of Sune?

The standard algorithms are closely related, but recognition should be learned as a mirrored orientation rather than guessed from notation.

Should I learn Sune and Anti-Sune together?

Yes, but alternate them under random angles so the names do not become interchangeable.
